COLUMBUS – Following a pair of victories during a road triangular to open the season, the Wayne High wrestling program went right back to work during their first invitational of the year.
From Lakeview Community Schools in Columbus, WHS joined 10 other teams during the Columbus Lakeview Invite.
Columbus Lakeview won the invite with 145 points, followed by Elkhorn Valley with 130 points, just edging Wayne High who placed third with 128 points, David City came in fourth with 127 points and Gibbon rounded out the top five teams with 110 points. Other team scoring came from Cross County/Osceola (sixth – 100), North Bend (seventh – 97), East Butler (eighth – 76), Fullerton (ninth – 40), Columbus Scotus (10th – 37.5) and Shelby-Rising City (11th – 21).
Top Blue Devil placings came from Reece Jaqua (132) and Reid Korth (195) who both won their division while Ashton Munsell (138) and Martin Carrillo (285) both took runner-up. Alex Frank (106) finished third, Dakota Spann (182) came in fourth, Garrett Schultz (113) placed fifth as Zach McManigal (120), Eli Barner (145) and Aiden Liston (170) took sixth.
The Blue Devil wrestling program will be back in action next Thursday, December 10 hosting Norfolk Catholic starting at 7 p.m.
