Blue Devil Wrestling Advances 10 To District Round

YORK – Wrestling programs across the state closed out their subdistrict round Saturday where the top four wrestlers in each weight class advanced to an eight-man bracket next weekend for a district final.

From York Public Schools, the Wayne High wrestling program competed in the B2-B Subdistrict hosted by York.

District host Blair won the subdistrict with 176.5 points, followed by the subdistrict host York in runner-up with 162 points,  Wayne placed third with 142.5 points, Omaha Gross Catholic took fourth with 119.5 points and Seward rounded out the top five teams with 103 points.

Another team result came from Falls City in sixth with 57 points.

Wayne High individuals advancing to the district round were Reid Korth (182) who won his weight division while Garrett Schultz (106), Reece Jaqua (132), Eli Barner (138) and Martin Carrillo (220) all finished runner-up. Zach McManigal (113), Ashton Munsell (126), Francisco Jinez (152) and Cooper Zara (160) placed third as Bo Armstrong (285) took fourth to advance to next weekend’s district final bracket.

The Wayne High wrestling members who advanced to the district final will compete in the B-2 District hosted by Blair on Saturday, February 13 starting at 10:30 a.m.
