Blue Devil Wrestlers Begin Season 2-0 With Dual Victories, Area Results

WAYNE – With only one home wrestling competition scheduled for Wayne High on the season, Thursday night’s triangular also marked parent’s night.

From the Wayne Jr/Sr High School gymnasium, the Blue Devil girls and boys wrestling program welcomed in Wisner-Pilger and Summerland during a home triangular.

Four exhibition girls wrestling bouts were split as the Blue Devil girls went 2-2.

Renieth Montiel of Wayne won by fall over Lenora Kester of Summerland before also winning by fall over Sydni McConnell. From the Wisner-Pilger girls exhibition, Jaycee Bruns and Liberty Titiml were both in action. Results favored Alexia Martin and Haylee Miller of the Gators who won by fall.

 

In the dual against Summerland, Wayne won 36-21.

Blue Devil victories came from Alex Frank (120) over Daley Bearinger by fall (4:57); Zachary McManigal (126) by decision (16-10) over Connor Thompson; Ashton Munsell (138) over Willis Mast by fall (0:41); Eli Barner (145) by fall over Logan Kester (0:42); Aiden Liston (170) by fall over Kendrick Schroeder (4:25) and Dakota Spann (182) by decision (11-5) over Alex Arroyo.

Forfeit wins came from Will Leseberg (113) as both teams double forfeit 160, 220 and 106.

 

From the match with Wisner-Pilger, WHS won 42-24.

Wayne High wins were posted by Spann over Kristian Oeverjordet by fall (4:49) and Leseberg by fall over Tycin Lampman (2:41).

Forfeit wins came from McManigal, Munsell, Liston, Martin Carillo (195) and Logan Schafer (285) as both teams double forfeit 160, 220 and 106.

 

In the middle match, Summerland defeated Wisner-Pilger, 45-24.

The Wayne High wrestling program will next compete in the Columbus Lakeview Invite on Friday, December 3 starting at 2 p.m. before being off until a road dual at Norfolk Catholic on Thursday, December 9.

 

Other area wrestling results saw Ponca defeat Tri County Northeast, 40-6; Battle Creek topped Hartington Cedar Catholic, 67-12 and Pender finished ahead of Wakefield 69-9.
