BATTLE CREEK – A late season winning streak continued on for the Wayne High volleyball program Thursday evening.
From Battle Creek Public Schools, the Blue Devils visited the Bravettes in a regular season Mid State Conference showdown with the conference tourney bracket scheduled to come out Friday.
After holding off Battle Creek in set one (25-23), the Blue Devils took control of the final two sets (25-10 and 25-18) to sweep the Bravettes. Wayne High has now won 12 consecutive matches improving to 20-7 while Battle Creek dropped their third straight falling to 18-7.
The Wayne C-Team lost to Battle Creek (24-26, 22-25) while the Wayne JV team beat Battle Creek (25-21, 25-17).
Lauren Pick recorded a double-double with 20 kills and 14 digs to go along with five blocks (three solo) followed by Rubie Klausen with six kills and 14 digs. Kiara Krusemark (four digs) had 28 set assists and two kills while Sydney Redden and Reagan Backer both had 11 digs. Other kills came from Mady Sievers (four digs) with two and one each from Kate Hill (one dig) and Redden. Reagan Backer and Pick both finished with a service ace as Emily Longe and Krusemark both added a block assist.
The Mid State Conference volleyball tourney will be held at Norfolk Catholic and Battle Creek Monday, October 19 – Thursday, October 22.
The Wayne Junior High volleyball teams also competed against Battle Creek Thursday. Results below:
