Blue Devil Volleyball Suffers Road Sweep

NORFOLK – With an upcoming road triangular and weekend tourney to take over the Wayne High volleyball schedule later this week, the Blue Devils took to the road during a Mid State Conference regular season outing.

From Norfolk Catholic High School, the Knights hosted WHS Tuesday evening.

Norfolk Catholic swept Wayne High 25-17, 25-20 and 25-23 to improve to 8-2 winning three of their last four outings. The Blue Devils fell to 8-7 dropping their third straight.

After missing out on weekend competition, Lauren Pick returned for Wayne High leading the team in kills with 11 while adding 19 digs and two blocks (one solo). Kiara Krusemark also finished with a double-double totaling 17 set assists and 10 digs while Sydney Redden paced the team in digs with 27. Kate Hill tallied six kills, Rubie Klausen had 22 digs and five kills as Emily Longe posted four kills.

As a team, Krusemark and Klausen both had a service ace. Other blocks came from Hill, Klausen and Krusemark.

Norfolk Catholic leaders were Mary Fennessy with 13 kills, seven digs and three blocks while Channatee Robles added 11 kills 17 digs. Taylor Kautz posted a team-high 21 digs as Anna Neuhalfen tallied 18 digs. Carly Marshall had 24 set assists and 13 digs as Avery Yosten posted two service aces.

The Wayne High volleyball team will next compete in the O’Neill triangular on Thursday, September 24 with Hartington Cedar Catholic.
