Blue Devil Volleyball Splits Pool Play Games, Saturday Pairings Being Finalized

WEST POINT – Pool play competition closed out Thursday evening at four different sites during the 2020 Jean Groth Volleyball Classic.

From West Point-Beemer in Pool D, Wayne High swept Tekamah-Herman 25-18 and 25-16 but suffered a three-set loss against the host Cadets (25-16, 16-25, 18-25). The opening match favored West Point-Beemer sweeping Tekamah-Herman. Wayne High is now 2-1 on the season.

In the victory over the Tigers, Lauren Pick recorded 10 kills and five digs. Emily Longe added three kills; Rubie Klausen paced the team in digs with eight while Kiara Krusemark tallied 16 set assists.

From the three-set loss to West Point-Beemer, Pick was again the team leader in kills with 13 while tacking on five digs. Longe added another six kills; Krusemark had 21 set assists and Sydney Redden recorded a team-high nine digs.

Wisner: BRLD def. Wisner-Pilger, 25-20, 26-24 (2-0); Lutheran High Northeast def. BRLD, 25-20, 25-18 (2-0) and Lutheran High Northeast def. Wisner-Pilger, 25-9, 25-22 (2-0).

North Bend: North Bend Central def. Archbishop Bergan, 22-25, 25-14, 25-23 (2-1); North Bend Central def. Guardian Angels Central Catholic, 25-10, 25-22 (2-0) and Guardian Angels Central Catholic def. Archbishop Bergan, 21-25, 25-16, 25-21 (2-1).

 

Teams will gear up for gold, silver and bronze competition on Saturday, September 5 in Wisner and Pender with schedules to be posted once available.
