Blue Devil Volleyball On Home Court, WHS Softball Takes To The Road

WAYNE – For just the second time this season the Wayne High volleyball team will be on the home court while the Blue Devil softball team takes to the road this week.

From Wayne Community Schools, WHS is 5-7 after coming off their fourth five-set match falling to Lutheran High Northeast last Thursday.

The Blue Devils will welcome in Class C2 Norfolk Catholic who is 9-2. The Knights have won six straight regular season matches along with going 2-1 in the Scotus Invitational earlier this month. Norfolk Catholic swept both Stanton and Boone Central in a road triangular last Thursday.

The freshman match has been canceled as the JV contest will start at 5:30 p.m. followed by Wayne vs. Norfolk Catholic varsity competition.

Wayne High will also welcome in both O’Neill and Hartington Cedar Catholic on Thursday, September 23 during a home triangular before taking part in the Wisner-Pilger September Classic this Saturday.

Moving into softball action, Wayne High is 12-4 and have won four straight after going 2-1 in the Mercy Tournament two weeks ago. The Blue Devils will visit both Ponca tonight and NEN on Thursday (Pender/Wisner-Pilger/Bancroft-Rosalie/Lyons-Decatur Northeast). Class C Ponca is 12-10 while fellow Class B NEN is 11-10.

The Wayne at Ponca softball outing will be a varsity only contest tonight starting at 6 p.m.

The Blue Devils will also compete in the Adams Central Invite in Hastings this Saturday.
