Blue Devil Volleyball Gets Back On Winning Track

NORFOLK – The Wayne High volleyball team took part in their only regular season game scheduled this week before competing in a weekend classic.

From Norfolk Catholic High School, the Knights hosted Wayne High where it marked only the second Mid State Conference contest for WHS on the season.

Norfolk Catholic came out strong, but it was Wayne High taking three close sets by the scores of 25-20, 25-22 and 25-18. WHS improves to 10-5 on the season as Norfolk Catholic drops to 1-9.

Wayne High was led by Lauren Pick with a double-double recording 16 kills and 21 digs, followed by Katelyn Grone with 11 kills and Ashton Boyer tacked on seven kills. Emily Armstrong added six kills and 13 digs as Allyson Avery posted 25 set assists while Kiara Krusemark picked up another 14.

Mary Fennessy paced Norfolk Catholic with 10 kills, Abby Miller had seven kills and six total blocks (three solo) as Anna Neuhalfen picked up another six kills. Carly Marshall also posted a double-double with 23 set assists and 16 digs.

Wayne High will open play with Humphrey St. Francis in the Wisner-Pilger September Classic on Saturday, September 22.
