BATTLE CREEK – With a home triangular scheduled for next week and Mid State Conference Tourney approaching for the Wayne High volleyball team, WHS closed out their regular season road contest Thursday.
From Battle Creek High School, the Bravettes hosted the Blue Devils.
The three close sets favored Battle Creek of 27-25, 25-20 and 25-23. Battle Creek improves to 18-7 on the season as Wayne High fell to 17-8.
Lauren Pick paced WHS at the net with a double-double recording 15 kills and 11 digs to go along with four blocks (three solo), followed by eight kills from Katelyn Grone as well as four kills and 15 digs by Ashton Boyer. Allyson Avery was the team leader in set assists with 16 followed by Kiara Krusemark with 15 as Frankie Klausen tacked on a team-high 18 digs. Emily Armstrong tallied four services aces and 12 digs with Boyer recording two aces.
Wayne High volleyball is next in action on Tuesday, October 16 hosting triangular matches with O’Neill and Hartington Cedar Catholic.
