Blue Devil Volleyball Drops Home Match To Undefeated Eagles

WAYNE – As the Wayne High volleyball team prepares for a weekend pool play tournament in Seward, the Blue Devils hosted their second straight match Thursday.

From the Wayne Jr/Sr High School gymnasium, Wayne High welcomed in Lutheran High Northeast.

The Eagles remained undefeated as WHS was swept for the first time this season in a best-of-three-set match (25-17, 25-20, 25-12). LHNE improves to 16-0 while Wayne falls to 7-4.

Lauren Pick recorded a team-high 16 kills and 18 digs as Sydney Redden tallied a team-high 20 digs. Emily Longe added two kills and two blocks, Kiara Krusemark finished with 22 set assists and two kills as Rubie Klausen had 15 digs, two kills and the team’s lone service ace.

The Blue Devil C-Team and JV Team both defeated Lutheran High Northeast.

C team:  25-20, 22-25, 15-11 beat Lutheran High

JV team: 15-25, 25-17, 15-8 beat Lutheran High

 

The Wayne High volleyball team will next compete in the 2020 Seward Invite. WHS will join Lincoln Lutheran, Broken Bow and Omaha Mercy from the middle school for pool B while Pool A will feature Wahoo, Omaha Concordia, South Sioux City and the host Seward at the high school. Matches will begin at 9 a.m. and last through 2:30 p.m.

Due to COVID-19, there’ll bee no cross over tournament match this year between pools. They plan to return to their regular format in 2021.
