Blue Devil Softball Uses 12-Run Inning To Dominate On Road

SOUTH SIOUX CITY – With six home games in the books for the Wayne High softball team, WHS took their talents to the road for the first time in 2022.

From South Sioux City, Class C WHS visited Class B SSC on Thursday.

WHS picked up the 15-0 victory over the Cardinals to improve to 5-2 on the season while South Sioux City fell to 2-7.

Following a two-run opening inning, Wayne High scored 12 runs in the second and one more run in the third to win 15-0.

Nyla Bolles singled, doubled, drove in a run and scored three times; Taytem Ellis singled twice, drove in three runs and scored three times as Liberty Titiml doubled, drove in a run and scored twice.

Kierah Haase singled, drove in a run and scored twice; Sammi Gubbels singled and drove in a run; Rylin Hall and Delaney Kruse both singled; Reagan McGuire accounted for two RBI and a run scored; Logan Miller added a RBI and run scored; Jordyn Gamble scored twice as Jersi Jensen scored.

Gubbels (37) picked up the complete game victory in three innings allowing one hit while striking out three batters.

The Wayne High softball team will also visit Columbus Lakeview (Class B opponent) on Tuesday, September 6.
