O’NEILL – Following a trio of victories over the weekend during the Wayne Invite, the Blue Devil softball team will look to keep their momentum going with their lone game of the week.
WHS will visit O’Neill this evening with JV action beginning at 5 p.m. followed by Varsity competition around 6:30 p.m.
Wayne High recently defeated Centura/Central Valley, Twin River and Arlington on Saturday to improve to 3-1. O’Neill is 1-3 following three straight losses during the York Quad on Saturday.
WHS split with O’Neill last year winning 3-1 in Wayne on August 25 before suffering a 7-3 loss in the Mid State Conference Tournament held in West Point on October 3.
The Blue Devils will then be off until next Tuesday, August 31 when the team competes in the Bishop Neumann triangular with Highway 91.
The Wayne High girls golf team will also be in action for the second time in less than a week. WHS will join Laurel-Concord-Coleridge and Hartington Cedar Catholic from Cedar View Country Club in Laurel for a triangular today.
The nine-hole action will begin at 4 p.m.
Later this week, all are invited for the Wayne High Invite from the Wayne Country Club on Friday, August 27 starting at 9:30 a.m. Participating teams joining the Blue Devils will be Hartington Cedar Catholic, Battle Creek, Crofton, Elkhorn Valley, Laurel-Concord-Coleridge, Oakland Craig, Papillion-La Vista, Pender, Pierce, South Sioux City, Stanton, West Point Beemer and Winnebago.
