Blue Devil Softball To Play Fifth Straight Home Game Tonight

WAYNE – The Wayne High softball program will cap off a five-game home stretch with a Tuesday night Mid State Conference showdown.

From the Summer Sports Complex, WHS will take their 3-1 record up against the O’Neill Eagles. JV action will get underway at 5 p.m. with Varsity starting around 6:30 p.m.

Wayne High is coming off winning their own tournament this past Saturday. The Blue Devils defeated Ponca 10-0, edged Twin River 4-2 in the semis and topped Highway 91, 6-2 in championship game and enter Tuesday with a three-game winning streak.

O’Neill is 0-4 on the season after dropping three straight in the York Quadrangular this past weekend. O’Neill suffered losses to York (10-0), Fairbury (11-1) and Grand Island Central Catholic (9-0). The Eagles began their season with a road loss at St. Paul, 8-4.

Last year, Wayne shutout O’Neill 8-0 in O’Neill.
