WAYNE – For the second time this season, the Wayne High softball team competed in a triangular.
From the Wayne Softball Complex, WHS welcomed in both Class C West Point-Beemer and Class B Schuyler on Monday.
The Blue Devils defeated Schuyler, 12-0 and topped West Point-Beemer, 12-0 to improve to 10-4 on the season.
During the win against the Warriors, Wayne opened with a four-run first before pouring in eight more runs an inning later to win 12-0 off 10 hits.
Taytem Ellis tripled, drove in three runs and scored while Taytum Sweetland singled twice and scored twice. Brooklyn Kruse and Hailey Schroeder both singled, drove in two runs and scored; Kendall Dorey singled twice and scored; Liberty Titiml singled, drove in a run and scored; Kierah Haase and Aliah Schulz both singled and scored; Hope O’Reilly accounted for a RBI and run scored as Delaney Kruse and Mikaela McManigal both scored.
Sammi Gubbels (47 pitches) secured the complete game, no-hitter in three innings striking out six batters and walking two.

From the victory over West Point-Beemer, the Blue Devils scored eight runs in the first and four more in the second to win 12-0 with three of the five hits going extra bases.
Ellis tripled for the second time on the day to go along with a single, three RBI and two runs scored; Dorey doubled, drove in three runs and scored as O’Reilly doubled, drove in a run and scored twice. McManigal singled and scored twice, Virginia Kniesche scored twice, Logan Miller accounted for a RBI as single runs came from Sweetland, Caitlyn Mostek and Brooklyn Kruse.
Gubbels (48 pitches) worked another complete, no-hitter victory in three innings striking out five batters and walking one.
