SCHUYLER – With a scheduled home triangular today, the Wayne High softball team hit the road to face a pair of Class B teams Monday night.

The Schuyler Warriors hosted both Wayne High and West Point-Beemer for an early week triangular.

Wayne High made quick work of both opponents winning 17-1 over Schuyler and then 15-0 against West Point-Beemer. WHS improved to 14-3 on the season and will next host a pair of Class C opponents of Pierce and Boone Central/Newman Grove at 4:30 p.m. today from the Wayne Softball Complex.

In the win over the host Warriors, Wayne went ahead 2-1 in the first before tabbing nine runs in the second to lead 11-1. The Blue Devils also scored a run in the third and five more in the fifth to win 17-1 by using 17 hits.

Kendall Dorey singled, doubled and drove in three runs while Tori Kniesche singled twice and drove in two runs for Wayne. Aliah Schulz singled and doubled as Amara Hurlbert, Nicole Fertig and Brianna Nissen all singled twice and drove in a run; Taytum Sweetland singled and drove in two runs; Kayla Fleming singled twice; Jamie Janke singled and drove in a run as well as Kylen Robbins with a single.

Kendall Dorey picked up the win in four innings allowing one run off three hits while striking out seven batters.

From the victory over the Cadets, Wayne scored three runs in the opening inning before adding 12 runs in the second to win 15-0.

Tori Kniesche recorded a single, homerun and three RBI while Brooklyn Kruse added a single and a solo homerun for Wayne. Fleming doubled and drove in two runs; Dorey doubled and drove in a run as Schulz, Sweetland and Fertig all singled and drove in a run.

Tori Kniesche picked up the win in three innings striking out all nine batters faced.
