Blue Devil Softball Back In Action Thursday Night

WISNER – After the Wayne High softball team played nine games in 10 days, WHS deserved a week off from competition and will be back in action Thursday night.

The Blue Devils are 17-3 on the season sporting a perfect 12-0 record in the month of September. WHS will take their winning streak on the road where they’ll face the 14-3 NEN Vipers (Wisner-Pilger/Pender/BRLD). The Vipers recently went 2-1 during the Wilber-Clatonia Invite over the weekend.

From Wisner River Park in Wisner, JV action will open the night at 5 p.m. followed by the varsity showdown at 6:30 p.m.

Last season, Wayne High defeated NEN (7-0) in Wayne.

With just the Mid State Conference tourney and two regular season outings left for Wayne High prior to postseason softball, the team will travel to Hastings this weekend for the Adams Central Tournament. The Blue Devils will open Saturday morning at 10 a.m. with Ord followed by the winner/loser of either Milford or Wilber-Clatonia at 11:30 a.m. The other half of the bracket features Cozad vs. Polk County and Blue Hill vs. Adams Central. The final games will be played at 1 p.m. from the Smith Softball Complex.
