GERING – Several members from the Wayne Junior High cross country team competed in a state meet over the weekend.
From Five Rocks Amphitheater in Gering, the Junior High State Cross Country Meet took place Saturday.
The Wayne Junior High Girls placed runner-up with 82 points behind Norris. There were 118 female runners and 119 male runners on the 3K course with the top 25 runners earning a medal.
Eighth-grader Kyla Krusemark paced the Wayne Junior High girls in 11th during a time of 12:33 while fellow eighth-grader Jala Krusemark also medaled in 25th place at 13 minutes even.
Other Blue Devil Junior High girls results came from seventh-grader Reagan McGuire (28th – 13:06); seventh-grader Haley Kramer (32nd – 13:12); seventh-grader Lilyan Hurner (39th – 13:21); eighth-grader Olivia Hanson (67th – 14:11); eighth-grader Amelia Legler (70th – 14:22); eighth-grader Noah Armstrong (93rd – 14:59) and seventh-grader Josie Ley (95th – 15:02).
The Wayne Junior High Boys were led by a third place finish from eighth-grader Gavin Redden in a time of 10:46 while seventh-grader Drew Miller medaled at 21st (11:24).
Other Blue Devil Junior High boys results came from eighth-grader Andrew Brink (110th – 14:56) and seventh-grader Boden Dobbins (111th – 14:57).
Varsity runners for the Wayne High girls and boys cross country team will compete on the Albion Country Club during the C-3 District hosted by Boone Central on Thursday, October 15.
