Blue Devil Junior High Boys Open Season With Home Wins

WAYNE – With a weekend road game (correction from on air) taking place Saturday, the Wayne Junior High boys basketball program began their season earlier in the week on the home court.

From the elementary school in Wayne, the Blue Devils welcomed in Battle Creek for seventh and eighth grade competition on Thursday.

The Wayne eighth-grade team defeated Battle Creek, 42-23 while the Wayne seventh graders then defeated Battle Creek, 49-1.

During the eighth grade game, the top Wayne Junior High scorer was Jace Jorgensen with 22 points. Other scoring came from Drew Miller and Brody Munter with five points each, three point scoring followed by Parker Patefield and Drew Reinhardt as Gavin Anderson and Payton Junck both scored two points.

In the seventh grade game, Wayne was led in scoring by Jaxson Kneifl with 11 points while Chase Baldwin and Aiden Peterson both finished with eight points. Chase Nelson added six points, Wanso Barner, Landen Sharer and Joe Leatherdale all scored four points as Jaxon Chase and Chase Sturm both scored two points.

 

Next up for the Wayne Junior High basketball teams will be road games at Pierce (correction from on air) on Saturday, January 15 starting at 9 a.m.
