WAYNE – A pair of Mid State Conference girls golf programs took to the Wayne Country Club Thursday late afternoon.
The Wayne High girls golf triangular attracted Pierce and Hartington Cedar Catholic for a weekday nine-hole outing.
Head Wayne High girls golf coach Josh Johnson said, “girls continue to play well. It was nice to be back home and the girls fought through the changing weather. We need to keep working hard these next few weeks as we head into the final stretch of the season. It should be a fun ride.”
After a short weather delay, Wayne would go on to win the triangular with a score of 194 followed by Pierce (203) and Cedar Catholic (212).
WHS was led by Joslyn Johnson who was the individual medalist with a nine hole score of 45. Riley Haschke finished right behind with a score of 46 to earn runner-up honors.
Other scorers for Wayne were Carli Canham (50), Charli Sievers (53), Lindsay Niemann (55) as well as Rylynn Owen and Hallie Heithold (68s each).
The Wayne High girls golf team will travel to Albion on Saturday and Hartington on Monday before returning home next Thursday for the Richard Metteer Invite.
