DAVID CITY – The Wayne High girls and boys cross country team took to the road Thursday for the Aquinas Catholic Invitational.
As a team the Wayne High girls placed third with 60 points while the Blue Devil boys took 10th with 158 points.
The top Blue Devil runner in the girls division was Laura Haseman placing seventh in a time of 21:56 out of 58 runners while the WHS boys saw Christopher Woerdemann finish 29th out of 64 runners in a time of 19:26 on the 5K course.
Leading the girls team race was Milford finishing with 20 points over Fort Calhoun who had 42 points.
Tandee Masco from Milford placed first in a time of 20:43.
The top boys team was Milford with 17 points while the host Aquinas Catholic finished runner-up with 35 points.
Aquinas had the top runner from Payton Davis in a time of 17:03.
Other Blue Devil results on the girls varsity side came from Autumn Avery (15th – 22:58), Fatima Lucas-Garcia (18th – 23:22), Allyson Avery (23rd – 24:04) and Erin Avery (38th – 25:46). Andi Belt was the top JV runner in sixth place (24:13).
For the WHS varsity boys following Woerdemann were Treyton Blecke (38th – 20:04), Hunter Schultz (43rd – 20:23), Ashton Munsell (48th – 20:36), Ethan McCraney (49th – 20:39) and Liam Spieker (50th – 20:48). Sean Aschoff led the JV runners in seventh place (20:00).
The Wayne High cross country team will next run in the Mid State Conference Invite from the Lakeview Country Club in Crofton on Thursday, October 10.
