Blue Devil Girls Golf Finished Third During Home Invite, Haschke Wins Two-Hole Playoff

WAYNE – Members of the Wayne High girls golf team welcomed in several teams during their first of five home outings on the season.

From the Wayne Country Club, 16 total varsity and junior varsity teams competed in Wayne on Friday.

Head WHS girls golf coach, Josh Johnson said, “there was some really good playing today…Wayne girls played their best round of the year and continue to get better every day.”

Riley Haschke from Wayne defeated LCCs Sarah Karnes in a two hole playoff to be the overall gold medalist. Both finished with an 87 in 18 holes.

As a team, Wayne ended the day third with a 401, just off the pace of first place Pierce who shot a 390. Oakland-Craig finished runner-up in the team race with a 400. Laurel-Concord-Coleridge took fourth with a 422.

Other top Wayne High golfers came from Joslyn Johnson in fifth (95) and Carli Canham in 14th (107).

The Wayne High girls golf team will next host a triangular on Tuesday, August 30 with Elkhorn Valley and Battle Creek starting at 4 p.m.
