Blue Devil Girls Eliminated From Mid State Conference Tourney, Wayne Boys Open Tuesday

NEWMAN GROVE – Conference tourney action began Saturday afternoon for the Wayne High girls basketball team.

From Newman Grove high school, WHS visited Boone Central/Newman Grove during the play-in round of the Mid State Conference Tournament.

#8 Boone Central/Newman Grove held off #9 WHS 51-49 as the Cardinals improved to 8-10 dropping Wayne High to 4-16 (14th straight loss).

The Cardinals will next face #1 GACC in West Point on Monday, February 3 while Wayne High will be off until February 11 hosting Omaha South.

 

Boys play-in final: #9 Boone Central/Newman Grove won at #8 Crofton (81-67).

First round Mid State girls games will be played at Guardian Angels Central Catholic and Crofton on Monday, February 3; semifinal games at Norfolk Catholic and Northeast Community College on Thursday, February 6 with all games on Saturday, February 8 played at Wayne State College.

Mid State boys games will open Tuesday, February 4 in Battle Creek and Hartington Cedar Catholic; semifinals from Norfolk Catholic and Northeast Community College on Friday, February 7 and all games on Saturday, February 8 at Wayne State College.

 

Monday girls games:

In West Point (GACC): #1 GACC vs. BC/NG at 6:15 p.m. followed by #4 O’Neill vs. #5 Norfolk Catholic at 7:45 p.m.

In Crofton: #3 Battle Creek vs. #6 Pierce at 6:15 p.m. followed by #2 Crofton vs. #7 Hartington Cedar Catholic at 7:45 p.m.

 

Tuesday boys games:

In Battle Creek: #1 Battle Creek vs. BC/NG at 6:15 p.m. followed by #4 GACC vs. #5 Pierce at 7:45 p.m.

In Hartington: #3 Wayne vs. #6 Norfolk Catholic at 6:15 p.m. followed by #2 Hartington Cedar Catholic vs. #7 O’Neill at 7:45 p.m.
