NEWMAN GROVE – After not being able to host a bowling dual meet last Thursday due to weather, the Wayne High girls and boys varsity bowling programs took to the road.
From Newman Grove Lanes in Newman Grove, no spectators were allowed in Tuesday.
The Blue Devil girls bowling team suffered their first loss of the season which came down to a one-ball roll off in overtime while the Wayne boys improved to 10-6 with a 13-8 match win.
The Wayne High girls got down 8-0 after game one but with their backs up against the wall, charged back to win 5.5 points in the second game to bring the two-game total to 10.5 to 5.5 in favor of Boone Central. Wayne then won the Baker games which tied the bowling dual up. The two teams found themselves in a one-ball roll off which went to the home team of Boone Central winning the dual.
The Wayne boys also got off to a sluggish start and got down 6-2 after game one. The Wayne boys would fight back in game two and went 6-2 to tie the match up 8-8. Wayne would keep the pressure on Boone Central in the Baker games and would win both games to take the five points. Again, the Wayne boys would go on and win the match, 13-8.
The Wayne High bowling teams will next host Plainview on Thursday, January 21 scheduled for 4:30 p.m. from the Wayne Bowling Alley. WHS will also participate in the Seward Dual Meet in Seward this Saturday, January 23.
