Blue Devil Girls Go 1-2-3 To Win Division, Boys Finish Runner-Up In Home Invite; Junior High Runners Perform Well

WAYNE – With the Mid State Conference cross country meet slated for early October in Wayne, several teams participated in the Wayne Invite.

From the Wayne Country Club, the Blue Devils hosted their home invitational featuring varsity and junior high competition on Monday.

The Wayne High girls finished first place in the team standings with 11 points while the Blue Devil boys placed runner-up with 58 points.

Following Wayne’s 11 points, Hartington placed runner-up (36) and Tri County Northeast took third (44).

Wayne went 1-2-3 in the girls division among the 35 runners. Sophomore Jayla Krusemark won the race in a time of 20:59.55, followed by senior Laura Hasemann in runner-up (21:53.81) and sophomore Kyla Krusemark finished third (22:46.51).

Other results came from junior Frantzdie Barner (sixth – 23:15.77); freshman Lilyan Hurner (eighth – 23:54.50); sophomore Olivia Hanson (10th – 24:08.11); freshman Kennasyn Blecke (11th – 24:39.57); sophomore Yama Kantai (13th – 24:50.76); freshman Josie Ley (19th – 25:45.05); sophomore Ava Elliot (20th – 26:05.34); sophomore Norah Armstrong (24th – 27:28.71); junior Raegan Maas (30th – 29:22.18) and freshman Sharon Vasquez (34th – 31:38.17).

 

Norfolk Catholic won the boys division with 47 points, Wayne followed in runner-up (58), Pierce took third (61), Laurel-Concord-Coleridge placed fourth (63) and Hartington rounded out the top five teams with 66 points.

The Wayne High boys were led by freshman Drew Miller in third place (17:51.17).

Other results came from junior Alex Frank (17th – 19:40.86); sophomore Kasen York (19th – 19:49.25); senior Ethan McCraney (22nd – 20:08.17); senior Easton Blecke (24th – 20:13.06); junior Mason Ley (21:03.32); junior Adrian Klinetobe (29th – 21:04.94); freshman Boden Dobbins (33rd – 21:25.57); freshman Blade Nelson (46th – 23:23.60); sophomore Zander Liston (49th – 23:44.15); junior Parker Kesting (52nd – 24:23.15) and freshman Payton Junck (56th – 25:10.45).

Carson Noecker of Hartington won the boys race among the 69 runners in a time of 15:21.55 (2:20 ahead of the runner-up finisher).

 

In junior-high action, the Wayne girls placed fourth as a team with 29 points and were led by eighth-grader Essynce Owens-Webb in third place (13:56.71) while seventh graders Hannah Brogren and Gracelynn Daniels finished 16th and 17th respectively (17:12.90 each).

Eighth grader Megan Breitbarth of Pender won the girls race among the 32 runners on the approximately 2,000-meter course in a time of 12:46.74.

 

The Wayne Junior High boys finished third as a team with 28 points and led by eight-grader Cole Zach (11:59.02).

Other eight-grade results came from Emmanuel Gonzalez (10th – 12:38.83); Alejandro Archundia (15th – 13:12.97); Camden Hall (19th – 13:56.10); Lance Brink (21st – 14:02.33); Landen Claussen (24th – 14:28.69); Jenner Dorey (25th – 14:45.36); Landen Sharer (46th – 17:22.63) and Cale Eischeid (52nd – 18:15.92).

Seventh grade results came from Grady Maas (20th – 14:00.39); Callen Gamble (32nd – 15:31.22) and Braxton Suing (35th – 15:59.56).

Eighth grader Kendall Shada from Pierce won the boys race among the 54 runners on the 3K course in a time of 11:36.83.

 

The Wayne High cross country team will be off until Thursday, September 22 during the Crofton Invite.
