Blue Devil Cross Country Results From Norfolk Catholic Invite

NORFOLK – After opening the cross country season in Albion last week, the Wayne High girls and boys cross country program took back to the road on Friday.

From Skyview Lake in Norfolk, WHS competed in the Norfolk Catholic Invite.

The Wayne High girls placed first with 44 points while the Blue Devil boys took sixth with 120 points. The varsity girls division featured 66 runners (13 JV) while 96 runners (55 JV) competed in the boys division 5k.

Individually for Wayne High freshman Kyla Krusemark was the top Blue Devil performer placing third in a time of 21:35. Other Blue Devil results came from sophomore Maya Spahr (ninth – 34:21); junior Laura Hasemann placed 10th (23:17); sophomore Frantzdie Barner (14th – 23:55); freshman Olivia Hanson (20th – 24:38) and freshman Yama Kantai (29th – 26:39).

Freshman Norah Armstrong won the JV race in a time of 25:39 as fellow freshman Ava Elliot was in second (28:46).

 

Individually for the Wayne High boys, sophomore Jesus Zavala came away with a sixth place finish in a time of 18:27. Other top varsity results came from sophomore Mason Ley (36th – 20:34); senior Ethan Wibben (39th – 20:39); sophomore Alex Frank (46th – 21:00); junior Ethan McCraney (49th – 21:06) and junior Easton Blecke (58th – 21:44).

JV leaders were sophomore Parker Kesting (seventh – 22:04); freshman Ty Zach (31st – 25:03); freshman Kasen York (36th – 25:36) and senior Carter Haseman (42nd – 26:08).

 

In the Junior High Division, the Wayne Junior High girls placed runner-up with 50 points among the 102 runners while the Wayne Junior High boys took third with 51 points among the 109 runners.

Eighth-graders shined for the Blue Devil girls led by Reagan McGuire with a fourth place finish in a time of 8:04; followed by Lilyan Hurner (14th – 8:21); Kennasyn Blecke (23rd – 8:52); Josie Ley (36th – 9:12); Sophia Spieker (62nd – 10:14); Kayleigh Graybeal (65th – 10:22) and Sharon Vasquez (80th – 11:11).

 

For the Wayne JH boys, eighth graders Drew Miller (runner-up – 6:59) and Boden Dobbins (ninth – 7:25) finished among the top 10. Other teammates were Payton Junck (40th – 8:34) and Blake Nelson (48th – 8:46).

Seventh-grade results came from Emmanuel Gonzalez (16th – 7:49); Lance Brink (38th – 8:25); Cole Zach (45th – 8:42); Alejandro Archundia (51st – 8:50); Joshua Zavala (66th – 9:30); Camden Hall (68th – 9:34); Landen Sharer (71st – 9:44); Jenner Dorey (72nd – 9:46); Landen Claussen (75th – 9:47); Cale Eischeid (91st – 10:27) and Lucas Allemann (92nd – 10:28).

 

The Wayne High girls and boys cross country team will next host their own invite on Monday, September 13 starting at 3 p.m. from the Wayne Country Club.
