Blue Devil Cross Country Girls Place Four Inside Top 16, Boys Finish Sixth As A Team At Conference Meet

CROFTON – After having the conference cross country meet moved to the Lewis & Clark Recreation Area, Wayne High competed in the Mid State outing.

With the cold weather bearing down on the runners, the Mid State Conference cross country meet carried on Thursday in northeast Nebraska.

Wayne High placed third as a team in the girls division with 37 points while the Blue Devil boys took sixth with 86 points.

Laura Hasemann was the top WHS girls finisher out of 43 runners placing seventh in a time of 21:04 on the 5k course followed by Autumn Avery in ninth (21:26). Fatima Lucas-Garcia came in 15th (22:07), Allyson Avery (16th – 22:18), Andi Belt (24th – 23:26), Erin Avery (32nd – 24:32), Karlee Janke (35th – 24:51) and Maria Vergara rounded out the Wayne girls (42nd – 27:18).

During the boys race, Christopher Woerdemann and Sean Aschoff finished 17th (18:30) and 18th (18:32) respectively out of the 68 runners on the 5k course.

Other Blue Devil male results came from Hunter Schultz (26th – 19:03), Treyton Blecke (27th – 19:05), Ashton Munsell (31st – 19:27). Ethan McCraney (33rd – 19:33), Ethan Wibben (38th – 20:03), Lance Muhs (41st – 20:12), Liam Spieker (44th – 20:34), Sedjro Agoumba (51st – 21:32), Tristan Clausen (54th – 21:50), Stuart Hasemann (56th – 22:07), Easton Blecke (57th – 22:15), Nathan Kufner (60th – 22:58), Carter Hasemann (62nd – 24:08), Kevin Kielty (66th – 26:59) and Ayden Ellis (67th – 28:01).

The Wayne High girls and boys cross country team will next compete in the C-2 District held at the Pierce Community Golf Course on Thursday, October 17.
