Blue Devil Boys To Host Norfolk Catholic Thursday Night For Parent’s Night

WAYNE – Following back-to-back third place finishes in the Great Northeast Nebraska Shootout Wayne Holiday Basketball tournament last week, the Wayne High boys will return to the court for a pair of Mid State Conference games this week.

The Blue Devil boys will welcome in Norfolk Catholic on Thursday, January 7 during parent’s night while both the Wayne girls and boys will host Boone Central on Saturday, January 9. The WHS girls will host Pierce only on Friday.

The Wayne boys edged Hartington Cedar Catholic, 31-29 on December 31 to finish third in their holiday tourney. WHS is now 9-2 on the season and will welcome in the 7-2 Norfolk Catholic Knights Thursday evening. The boys JV game will start at 6 p.m. from the Jr/Sr high school followed by the varsity game around 7:30 p.m.

The Knights recently won the Battle Creek Holiday Tournament by defeating Elkhorn Valley, 86-48 and winning 61-54 over the host Braves. Norfolk Catholic has won five straight dating back to a 74-53 home loss to Battle Creek on December 12.

Last year, Wayne High won at Norfolk Catholic (78-57) on January 9 and won 57-53 over the Knights during the first round of the Mid State Conference Tournament on February 4.
