Blue Devil Basketball To Visit LCC, Games Carried On KTCH

LAUREL – The Wayne High girls and boys basketball teams will split their next six games competing on the road for three straight and on the home court for three more later this month.

The Blue Devils took part in a pair of home Mid State Conference games last week with the Blue Devil boys winning over Norfolk Catholic and Boone Central while the Wayne girls suffered losses to Pierce and Boone Central.

Next up for Wayne will be a northeast Nebraska showdown with Laurel-Concord-Coleridge on Tuesday, January 12. All four games will be played in the main gym starting at 4 p.m. with the JV girls, followed by the JV boys, varsity girls and closing out the night with varsity boys.

The Blue Devil girls are 4-10 and have dropped five straight following a 42-37 home loss to Boone Central this past Saturday. The Bears recently dropped their second straight, now at 4-8, following a 55-49 home loss to Winnebago last Friday.

On the boys side, Wayne High is 11-2 and have won three straights after topping Boone Central 58-35 this past Saturday. The LCC boys (10-3) held off Winnebago in Laurel last Friday, 56-53.

Last year, Laurel-Concord-Coleridge won in Wayne (53-46) on the girls side while the Blue Devil boys won both meetings against LCC of 53-35 in Wayne and 59-50 in the Wayne Holiday Tournament.
