Blue Devil Basketball To Continue Home Schedule Friday Night

WAYNE – After both the Wayne High girls and boys basketball teams secured their first home wins of the season, WHS is back at home for two more games this weekend.

The Blue Devils will host Wisner-Pilger on Friday, December 20 and entertain O’Neill on Saturday, December 21. WHS will also compete against Pender in the first round of the 2019 Great Northeast Nebraska Shootout from Wayne State College on Friday, December 27.

The Wayne High girls have won three straight to sit 3-2 on the season after topping Columbus Lakeview 53-29 on Saturday, December 14. The Blue Devil boys are 1-4 overall following a 71-48 home victory against the Vikings also this past Saturday.

The Friday night double header against the Gators will be aired on Big Red Country ‘KTCH’ 104.9 and waynedailynews.com with pregame coverage set for 5:45 p.m. The girls varsity game will tipoff at 6 p.m. with the boys to follow.

Last season both the Wayne teams won in Wisner with the WHS girls defeating the Gators, 50-44 and the Blue Devil boys winning 60-38.

For Wisner-Pilger, their girls team is 0-4 after falling to Oakland-Craig (54-18) while the boys fell to 3-1 following a 55-44 loss against Oakland-Craig Thursday night.

The O’Neill basketball teams are 3-0 (girls) and 1-2 (boys) entering the weekend.
