COLUMBUS – After dropping a pair of home games Friday night, the Wayne High girls and boys began their first of three straight road outings in mid-December.
From Lakeview Community Schools in Columbus, the Blue Devils visited Columbus Lakeview.
The Wayne High girls won 48-45 against the Viqueens while the Blue Devil boys topped Columbus Lakeview, 55-40.
During the girls game, WHS snapped their three-game losing streak to now sit 2-3 on the season while Columbus Lakeview fell to 2-2.
Junior Rubie Klausen paced WHS in scoring with 23 points while sophomore Brooklyn Kruse added nine points. Senior Emily Longe recorded seven rebounds.
From the boys contest, Wayne High jumped ahead 14-4 in the opening quarter before Lakeview answered with a 14-10 second. WHS led 24-18 at the break. The Blue Devils then pulled away in the second half outscoring the Vikings 14-12 in the third and 17-10 in the fourth. Final again favored Wayne High 55-40 improving to 4-1 while the Vikings are now 0-4.
Junior Brandon Bartos poured in a team-high 12 points for Wayne followed by senior Treyton Blecke and junior Tanner Walling each with nine points and six rebounds. Sophomore Daniel Judd finished with eight points, senior Colton Vovos added six points, sophomore Andrew Jones tallied four points, sophomore Alex Phelps provided three points as seniors Jacob Kneifl and Nolan Hunke each had two points.
Wayne shot 8-15 from the foul line.

The Wayne High Blue Devils will be off until visiting Wisner-Pilger and O’Neill on Friday and Saturday, December 18-19. Both games will be carried on Big Red Country ‘KTCH’ 104.9 and waynedailynews.com.
