Blue Devil Baseball To Open Season At Wahoo Friday

WAHOO – After having to postpone several home games and even a road contest, the Wayne High spring baseball season is finally here.

Although the team had to move another home game due to field conditions, the Blue Devils are set for their season opener on Friday, March 22.

Three teams will converge on Sam Crawford Field in Wahoo where Wayne High will play the first game at 4:30 p.m. against Wahoo/Bishop Neumann/Lincoln Lutheran.

Last year, Wahoo picked up the 7-0 win in Wahoo while the Warriors won twice in Wayne of 14-1 and 11-1 two years ago. The most recent Blue Devil win over Wahoo came in Wayne on April 4, 2014 when Wayne won 8-6 over then Wahoo/Raymond Central/Lincoln Lutheran.

Wahoo will also face GACC/Scribner-Snyder/West Point-Beemer at 6:30 p.m.

The Warriors entered Thursday at 1-0 with a scheduled road game at Seward while the Patriots are in the same boat as Wayne and haven’t played a game yet, but were scheduled to host Platte Valley Thursday.

Wayne High had another schedule change for early next week and will look to play a home game from Hank Overin Field. WHS will play Douglas County West on Tuesday, March 26 at 4:30 p.m. for varsity action followed by a JV game around 6:30 p.m.
