HASTINGS – Postseason baseball for Nebraska high school teams will begin in early May.

As the Wayne High baseball team closes out their regular season with a home game on Saturday and road game on Monday, WHS earned the #3 seed in the B-1 District hosted by Hastings. The tournament will last from Thursday, May 6 – Saturday, May 8 at Duncan Field in Hastings.

The Blue Devils are 10-7 on the season and will begin the postseason with #6 Douglas County West (2-13) at 5 p.m. on Thursday. The game will be carried on The City ‘KCTY’ 98.9/1590 and waynedailynews.com with pregame coverage set for 4:40 p.m.

B1- Wayne High Baseball.

The winner of the single elimination tournament will face either #2 Plattsmouth (12-7) or #7 Auburn (1-13) at 5 p.m. on Friday. These two teams will play at 2:30 p.m., right before the Wayne game Thursday afternoon.

The other half of the bracket will feature #4 Concordia/Brownell Talbot/Omaha Christian Academy (8-10) vs. #5 Fort Calhoun (7-10) at noon on Thursday. Their winner will face the host #1 Hastings (16-5) at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. The B-1 District final is scheduled to be played on Saturday, May 8 at TBA.

B-2 – GACC/SS/West Point-Beemer

B-4 – Thurston-Cuming County

B-6 – South Sioux City

The Wayne High baseball team is hosting Platte Valley on Saturday, May 1 at 11 a.m. for JV competition followed by varsity at 1 p.m. WHS will also conclude their regular season at Arlington on Monday, May 3 at 5 p.m. for varsity competition.
