Bentjen Crowned Stanton Invite Champion, Manz Places Sixth

STANTON – The Wayne High girls golf team was back on the course Friday morning during an invitational.

From the Elkhorn Acres Golf Course in Stanton, WHS joined seven other programs of five total varsity teams and three JV teams.

West Point-Beemer won the team race over Laurel-Concord-Coleridge 453 – 468 while LCC JV placed third with a 561. Norfolk JV took fourth with a 606 as Clarkson/Leigh rounded out the complete team scores with a 634. Wayne, Stanton and West Point-Beemer JV also had golfers in action.

Individually, Wayne High’s Natalie Bentjen placed first in the Stanton Invite with a 98 as Kailey Johnson of West Point-Beemer also shot a 98. LCC’s top golfer was Jadyn Kinkaid placing third with a 100 as Glenda Vance of LCC (5th – 116); Cassidy Manz of Wayne (6th – 118); Sarah Karnes of LCC (7th – 120); Maddy Graham of LCC (12th – 132); London Vancleave of LCC (14th – 132) and Sydney Groene of LCC JV (15th – 136) also placed.

The other Blue Devil golfer was Jayden Calhoon shooting a 171.

WHS girls golf will next compete in the Pierce Invite on Saturday, September 14 at 9 a.m. from the Pierce Community Golf Course.
