Battle Creek Hands Wayne High Wrestlers A 62-16 Loss, Bravettes Top WHS In Girls Division 

BATTLE CREEK – Both the Wayne High girls and boys wrestling programs returned to the mat for a week night dual.

From Battle Creek Public Schools, the Blue Devils visited Battle Creek Thursday night.

The Battle Creek boys defeated Wayne, 62-16.

Wayne High wins came from Garrett Schultz (120) over Garrett Finke by major decision (11-0); Zander Liston (132) over Devin Hassler by fall (0:42) and Ashton Munsell (138) over Hudson Last by fall (3:59).

Battle Creek victories went to Ryan Stusse Jr. (106) over Will Leseberg by fall (1:06); Ayden Wintz (113) over Alex Frank by fall (1:33); Jaxson Hassler (126) over Zachary McManigal by decision (7-4); Boston Reeves (145) over Eli Barner by fall (0:51); Korbyn Battershaw (152) over Francisco Jinez De La Rosa by fall (2:25); Wyatt Nierodzik (170) over Aiden Liston by tech fall (17-0; 4:45); Kaden Warneke (182) over Dakota Spann by fall (1:27) and Dahlas Zlomke (285) over Logan Schafer by fall (0:23).

Kaleb Kummer (160), Dahkota Zlomke (195) and Kase Thompson (220) all won by forfeit.

In the girls division, Battle Creek won 36-16. Jaycee Bruns (126) defeated her opponent by the score of 16-4 while Renieth Montiel (100) and Liberty Titiml (145) both won by forfeit.

The Wayne High boys wrestling team will next take part in the Schuyler Invite on Saturday, January 15 starting at 9 a.m. The Blue Devils girls will be off until making a return trip to Battle Creek for a dual starting at 4 p.m. on Monday, January 17.

Junior Varsity wrestlers will compete in the Schuyler Invite on Friday starting at 4 p.m. pending weather.
