WAYNE – One of the youth baseball teams saw their Thursday evening game moved to Friday due to weather as the Wayne Blue Didgets began their season.
From the Summer Sports Complex, the Blue Didgets hosted the West Point Twins.
The Wayne Blue Didgets began their season at 1-0 by defeating the Twins 7-4.
Spencer Moormeier had a triple and scored twice while Parker Zara added a double. Kash Haase, Colston Starzl, Easton Gamble, Aiden Petersen and Camden Hall all had singles.
Colston Starzl worked the opening three innings striking out nine batters. Maddox Heithold pitched two innings in relief allowing one hit while striking out four batters as Aiden Petersen closed out the final inning striking out all three batters faced.
The Wayne Blue Didgets are back in action Saturday at O’Neill before next at home hosting Dodge-Howells at 6 p.m. from the Summer Sports Complex on Monday.
