Back-To-Back Second Half Goals Give #5 Bemidji State Advantage

WAYNE – Following back-to-back road weekends for the Wayne State College women’s soccer program, WSC was back at home Friday late afternoon.

With four games remaining on the schedule, three from the WSC Soccer Complex, the ‘Cats played host to a ranked opponent of #5 Bemidji State.

The Beavers opened with scoring a goal in the 29th minute (28:09) to lead 1-0 at the break. Then, BSU tabbed two goals within five minutes in the 50th and 55th minutes to jump ahead 3-0 and hold on for the win. Bemidji State improves to 15-0 (12-0 NSIC) while Wayne State College dropped to 3-10-1 (3-8-1 NSIC).

Carleigh Wilson put two of her three shots on goal while Samantha Phillips placed a shot on goal for WSC.

Alyssa Bagley surrendered three goals while recording five saves in 90 minutes in the goal.

Bemidji State outshot the ‘Cats, 12-8 (8-3 goal) while also recording four corner kicks compared to one from WSC.

The Wayne State College women’s soccer team will next host Minnesota Crookston on Sunday, October 21 at 1 p.m. for Parent’s Day.
