OMAHA – In just under a month high school wrestling teams will compete in district competition looking to qualify their team and individuals for state action in mid-February.
Another round of rankings were released earlier this week on Tuesday from newrestle.com.
In Class B, Juan Vergara (138) of Wayne – third, Ray Loftis (145) of West Point-Beemer – sixth and Mike Leatherdale (285) of Wayne – fifth.
In Class C, Battle Creek is rated #4 in Class C with six wrestlers ranked inside the top five of their respective weight class.
Caydon McCracken is the top wrestler at 120, Owen Lade (132) – sixth, Damien Kersten (138) – second, Ty Heimes (152) – second, AJ Hawthorne (182) – fifth and Austin Marx (220) – third.
Other area rankings in Class C find Brock Bolling (106) of Pierce – fourth, Isaac Verzani (152) of Wakefield-Allen – third, Ryder Fuchs (195) of Pierce – first and Prosper Gilpin (285) of Winnebago – sixth.
In Class D, Plainview sits #3 with five wrestlers ranked.
Eli Lanham (106) – second, Scout Ashburn (113) – second, Nate Christensen (132) – second, Will Gunning (145) – fifth and Collin Gale (195) – third.
Other Class D wrestlers are Kaiden Mrsny (113) of Pender – fifth, Koby Ellis (120) of Winside – second, Brandon Bloomquist (160) of Randolph – fourth, Bryce Zimmerer (170) of Creighton – first and Noah Scott (170) of Randolph – third.
In Class A, Norfolk High sits sixth as a team with four individuals ranked.
Josh Licking (152) – third, Brayden Splater (160) – second, Blake Forsythe (170) – fifth and Conner Cowling (285) – first.
Other Class A area wrestlers come from Luis Quezada (220) of South Sioux City – fourth and Jacob Ngeleka (285) of South Sioux City – sixth.
