Area Girls District Finals Slated For Friday

HOOPER – Eight district championship girls basketball games will be played across the state in each of Class C1, C2, D1 and D2 Friday evening.

With the 2020 NSAA Girls State Basketball Tournament set for Thursday, March 5 – Saturday, March 7 in Lincoln, several area teams are one win away from advancing. Teams will need to win to go to state as the wildcards were used from the subdistrict into the district round.

A game that will be carried on Big Red Country ‘KTCH’ 104.9 and waynedailynews.com will feature the C2-5 District final from Logan View/Scribner-Snyder High School in Hooper. #5 Ponca (20-4) will face #12 Lourdes Central Catholic (20-5) of Nebraska City at 7 p.m. Friday evening.

Pregame coverage is set for 6:45 p.m. #1 Ponca earned the wildcard after placing runner-up in the C2-4 subdistrict falling to #2 GACC (47-33) while #1 Lourdes Central Catholic topped #2 Elmwood-Murdock (42-31) in the C2-1 subdistrict.

C1-3: #14 Norfolk Catholic (17-7) vs. #3 North Bend Central (23-2) at 7 p.m. from Wisner-Pilger High School

C1-7: #10 West Point-Beemer (22-5) vs. #7 Milford (17-6) at 8 p.m. from Fremont High School

 

C2-1: #1 Oakland-Craig (24-1) vs. #16 Wood River (14-11) at 7 p.m. from Columbus High School

C2-2: #2 Crofton (22-3) vs. #15 Freeman (12-10) at 7 p.m. from Central Community College in Columbus

C2-4: #4 GACC (22-3) vs. #13 Clarkson-Leigh (19-5) at 5:30 p.m. from Fremont High School

C2-8: #8 BRLD (19-5) vs. #9 South Loup (Callaway/Arnold) (21-2) at 7 p.m. from York High School

 

D1-3: #14 Laurel-Concord-Coleridge (13-11) vs. #3 Pleasanton (24-0) at 7 p.m. from O’Neill High School

D1-4: #13 Hartington Cedar Catholic (9-13) vs. #4 Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family (20-5) at 7 p.m. from Norfolk High School

D1-7: #7 Pender (16-11) vs. #10 Cambridge (16-8) at 6 p.m. from Northwest High School

 

D2-2: #15 Bloomfield (11-12) vs. #2 Humphrey St. Francis (22-2) at 7 p.m. from Pierce High School

D2-4: #4 Wynot (21-4) vs. #13 Crawford (14-9) at 5:30 p.m. from Valentine High School
