All Wayne State Sports Suspended, NSIC Makes Announcement Thursday

WAYNE – As members with the Wayne State College baseball, softball, beach volleyball and indoor track & field team make their way back to northeast Nebraska, all NSIC competition has been suspended.

According to a release from the league office in Burnsville, Minnesota Thursday evening, all athletic activities for each of its 16-member institutions will halt immediately.

League officials are basing this off of the latest developments and the continued spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19).

The league will continue to monitor and evaluate the situation and will make a determination on the remainder of the academic year later in the month of March.

The NSIC is a 16-team, 18-sport NCAA Division II conference with institutions being Augustana University (SD), Bemidji State (MN), Concordia-St. Paul (MN), University of Mary (ND), Minnesota Crookston, Minnesota Duluth, Minnesota State-Mankato, MSU Moorhead (MN), Minot Sate (ND), Northern State (SD), Sioux Falls (SD), Southwest Minnesota State, St. Cloud State (MN), Upper Iowa, Wayne State College (NE) and Winona State (MN).
