NORFOLK – As the rain cleared throughout Thursday, it made for great competition during the 2019 Norfolk Track & Field Classic featuring a range of athletes who, most, could be seen at the state meet in a few weeks.

Hosted by Norfolk High, several area athletes medaled including all the events Wayne took part in.

Senior Dylan Kautz of Norfolk Catholic became the first ever three-time winner of the Norfolk Track Classic’s most outstanding male athlete award. Sara Reifenrath, who set a new meet and stadium record in the 100-meter dash (12.2) and took home gold in the 200 and 400, cemented her as the first ever Cedar Catholic Trojan to take home the most outstanding female athlete award.

On the girls side, Maysn Dorey placed second in the pole vault breaking her old school record mark now at 10’ (previously 9′ 6″)while Gabi Meyer also took second in the 800-meter run (2:28.8). The 3200-meter relay team of Frankie Klausen, Rubie Klausen, Kiara Krusemark and Meyer placed fourth (10:35.62).

Leading the way in the boys division, Mike Leatherdale used a mark of 52’ 7 ¼” during the shot put to place third while earning a seventh place finish in the discus (140’). Cody Rogers took fourth in the long jump (20’ 9”) and sixth in the triple jump (40’ 10 ¼”).
