PIERCE – After knocking out a top 10 opponent in double overtime at home, the Wayne High football team is gearing up for a top 10 road match up.

WHS jumped into the rankings of the Lincoln Journal Star and Omaha World Herald to #9 after winning 30-28 in double overtime over then #9 Columbus Lakeview.

The opponent on hand will be #1/#2 Pierce who sits 4-0 for a Friday night showdown to open district competition. The Bluejays recently defeated #8 (LSJ) Columbus Scotus 50-21 in Columbus.

The closest game in recent history saw Pierce top Wayne 28-26 in Wayne during the 2016 season.
