#8 Wayne State College Drops Three Spots, Prepares For First Of Three Home Matches This Week

WAYNE – Following a road weekend split with a pair of ranked conference opponents, the Wayne State College volleyball team fell a few spots to #8 and will compete on the home court three times this week.

According to a release from the Wayne State Athletics office, WSC fell three spots in the most recent American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division II Top 25 Poll as of Monday.

The Wildcats, 7-2 overall and 1-1 in the NSIC, received 828 points in voting conducted by Division II coaches from across the country.

Last week, WSC split NSIC road matches winning 3-1 at then #16 Minnesota Duluth while falling 3-1 at #23 St. Cloud State.

The Wayne State College volleyball team will now play three matches at home this week. WSC will host Sioux Falls Tuesday evening at 6 p.m. followed by matches this weekend vs. Minnesota Crookston Friday at 6 p.m. and Bemidji State Saturday at 1 p.m.

Washburn is the new #1 moving up three spots and receiving 25 first place votes with their 10-1 record as previous #1 Nebraska-Kearney fell to #4 at 8-1 with one first place vote.

NSIC teams inside the top 25 are led by now #5 Southwest Minnesota State (nine first place votes) up from #8.
