#7 Concordia-St. Paul Snaps #15 Wayne State’s Four-Game Home Match Streak With Five Set Victory

WAYNE – #15 Wayne State College closed out a five-game homestand from Rice Auditorium with a top 15 conference showdown.

The Saturday evening homecoming contest saw WSC host #7 Concordia-St. Paul.

CSP jumped ahead early 25-17, 25-12 before the ‘Cats battled back in sets three (25-23) and four (25-19). The Golden Bears then held on for the 15-10 win in set five to improve to 11-3 (5-1 NSIC) as Wayne State fell to 13-2 (4-2 NSIC).

Katie Stephens recorded a team-high 12 kills followed by Alyssa Ballenger with 10 kills for WSC. Rachel Walker posted a double-double with 32 set assists and 18 digs, Hope Carter led the team in digs with 24 digs and service aces with three while Haley Kauth added 15 digs and Morgan Alexander tacked on 11 digs. Tarrin Beller also finished with six blocks (one solo).

Concordia-St. Paul held the attack percentage advantage of .218 to .181 while recording more aces (10-4) than WSC as the ‘Cats led the block category (9-7).

#15 Wayne State College will next visit Winona State on Friday, October 11 at 6 p.m. and take on #22 Upper Iowa on Saturday, October 12 at 2 p.m.
