#5 Wayne State Volleyball Suffers Five-Set Road Defeat To #7 Concordia-St. Paul

ST. PAUL, MN – A top 10 NSIC volleyball showdown took over Friday night.

From the Gangelhoff Center in St. Paul, Minnesota, #5 Wayne State College visited #7 Concordia-St. Paul.

The match came right down to the wire as the host Golden Bears held on for the five-set victory (23-25, 25-16, 25-23, 19-25, 15-10). Concordia-St. Paul is now 16-3 overall (10-0 NSIC) as the ‘Cats had their eight-match win streak come to an end and now sit 15-3 (8-2 NSIC).

Kelsie Cada recorded a double-double with 14 kills and 17 digs; Taya Beller added 12 kills and six digs and Maggie Brahmer had 10 kills and two digs. Jazlin DeHaan finished with six kills and six digs; Alaina Wolff paced the team in digs with 22; Jordan McCormick had 15 digs; Jesse Brandl tacked on 13 digs; Rachel Walker posted 40 set assists and eight digs as Elly Larson tallied two kills and three digs.

Cada paced the team with three service aces as Wolff, DeHaan and Lauren Jacobsen all added an ace. Brahmer came away with seven blocks (one solo), Walker totaled four blocks (one solo), Beller and Larson both had five blocks as Cada and DeHaan both finished with two blocks (one solo each).

CSP edged Wayne State in the hitting department, .132 to .086 while the ‘Cats won the block department, 15-10.

#5 Wayne State College will next visit Minnesota State-Mankato on Saturday, October 16 at 2 p.m.
