#5 Wayne State Drops Four-Set Road Match At #23 SCSU

ST. CLOUD, MN – For a second straight day, the fifth ranked Wayne State College volleyball team competed against a ranked conference opponent.

From Halenbeck Hall in St. Cloud, Minnesota, WSC visited #23 St. Cloud State University Saturday afternoon.

The host Huskies took the opening two sets and went onto win in four sets (25-11, 25-20, 18-25, 25-18). SCSU is now 6-3 (2-0 NSIC) on the season as Wayne State College fell to 7-2 (1-1 NSIC). The last Wildcat NSIC loss came at the hands of St. Cloud State on November 22, 2019 in straight sets in the first round of the NSIC Tournament.

Jazlin De Haan dominated at the net with 15 kills to go along with a dig followed by Maggie Brahmer with nine kills, six blocks and a dig as well as Kelsie Cada with nine kills, three blocks and 12 digs. Alaina Wolff posted a team-high 17 digs; Jessie Brandl had 11 digs; Taya Beller finished with six kills, three blocks (one solo) and three digs; Rachel Walker tallied 34 set assists, four digs, four kills and a block.; Isabelle Vacek had three kills and four blocks as Elly Larson had two kills and a block. Jordan McCormick added seven digs.

Walker recorded the lone service ace as the team recorded five service errors.

The Huskies outhit the ‘Cats, .300 to .181.

#5 Wayne State College will next take part in three straight home outings. WSC will welcome in Sioux Falls on Tuesday, September 21 at 6 p.m.; host Minnesota Crookston on Friday, September 24 at 6 p.m. and entertain Bemidji State at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 25.
