Wayne State Basketball Friday Doubleheader To Be Carried On KCTY, Saturday’s Women’s Game On KTCH

BISMARCK, ND – For a second straight weekend the Wayne State College basketball teams will be limited to just three games over a two-day period with the men’s game on Saturday being canceled.

From the McDowell Activity Center in Bismarck, North Dakota, WSC will visit University of Mary on Friday, January 14. Men’s action will begin at 5:30 p.m. followed by the women’s game around 7:30 p.m.

The Wayne State College men are 8-6 (5-3 NSIC) following a Friday night home victory over Northern State, 69-53. WSC will be in search for their first road win of the season (0-5 on road). University of Mary sits 5-9 (4-5 NSIC) and are coming off a 77-73 road loss at Southwest Minnesota State this past Saturday after having their Friday game canceled with Sioux Falls.

For the Wayne State women, WSC is 7-6 (4-5 NSIC) after suffering a 64-53 Friday night home loss with Northern State last Friday. The Marauders are 9-9 (3-6 NSIC) and are coming off road losses to Sioux Falls (74-58) and Southwest Minnesota State (70-57). UMary is 6-0 on the home court.

Again, Saturday’s men’s game has been canceled due to COVID-19 protocols with the Minot State men and has been considered a no-contest and will not be made up per NSIC and NCAA policies. This will be the third time this season that an opponent had to cancel the game against WSC.

Minot State women enter the weekend at 5-9 (3-4 NSIC) and will host the Wayne State women at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 15. Pregame show coverage on Big Red Country ‘KTCH’ 104.9 and waynedailynews.com will begin at 5 p.m. on Saturday. The Minot State women have not played since December 18 and have had three games canceled due to COVI-19 protocols. Minot State will host Augustana Friday night.
