LINCOLN – As eight-man (D1/D2) and Class A football teams have ended their regular season eight weeks of competition are in the books as playoff brackets were posted Saturday.
According to a release from the NSAA, first round competition will begin on Thursday, October 22 at the higher seed from the 32-team brackets.
Area teams qualifying for state in the east bracket of the 32 teams include Stanton, Lutheran High Northeast, Guardian Angels Central Catholic and Laurel-Concord-Coleridge in Class D1 as well as Wynot, Allen, Bloomfield, Osmond, Creighton and Winside in Class D2.
#11 LCC (5-3) will travel to Hebron and face #6 Thayer Central (6-2) on Thursday, October 22 at 2 p.m.
Other Class D1 games include: #7 GACC (3-4) will host #10 Howells-Dodge (6-2); #4 Lutheran High Northeast (7-1) will host #13 Elmwood-Murdock (5-3) and #3 Stanton (6-1) will host #14 Exeter-Milligan/Friend (4-3).
Class D2: #3 Wynot (5-1) will host #14 Winside (5-3); #4 Allen (6-0) will welcome in #13 Johnson-Brock (3-5); #7 Bloomfield (4-3) will host #10 Mead (4-4) and #8 Osmond (5-2) will host #9 Creighton (6-2).
