Wayne’s Bentjen Finishes First During Stanton Quad

STANTON – A group of four northeast Nebraska high school golf programs took to the course Thursday late afternoon.

From Elkhorn Acres Golf Course in Stanton, the Mustangs hosted Wayne High, Clarkson/Leigh and Pender (Thurston-Cuming) during a nine-hole outing.

Thurston-Cuming finished with the low-team score of a 247, followed by Clarkson/Leigh with a 279 and Stanton had a 285.

Wayne High’s Natalie Bentjen shot the low individual score with a 47. Other Wayne golfers of Riley Haschke shot a 58 and Trinity Surber finished with a 93.

Thurston-Cuming’s top golfer was Harlie Nolze with a 55, Stanton was led by Shelby Jenkinson with a 51 and Clarkson-Leigh’s leader came from Ashly Guillen with a 64.

The Wayne High girls golf team will next compete in the Pierce Invite on Saturday, September 12 starting at 9 a.m.

 

Also, the Wayne High girls and boys cross country team will be in action today during the Norfolk Catholic Invite. Races are scheduled to get underway at 3 p.m. from Skyview Lake.
