Post 43 Seniors Run-Rule Lakeview To Open Season At 1-0

COLUMBUS – The Wayne Post 43 Senior American Legion baseball team began their summer season kicking off a four-game schedule in eight days.

Post 43 visited Columbus Lakeview Monday evening.

After having last Thursday’s home opener rescheduled due to weather, Wayne took care of business on the road thanks to a run in the first followed by six more in the second. Post 43 tallied one last run in the fifth to run-rule Lakeview 8-0 in five innings.

Trevor DeBoer posted a solid showing at the plate with a homerun, double, two RBI and two runs scored while Reid Korth tallied a single, double, two RBI and run scored. Jacob Kneifl doubled, Hagan Miller singled, drove in a pair of runs and scored as Blake Bartos singled and scored. Josh Lutt crossed the plate twice, Tyrus Eischeid accounted for a RBI and Toby Braun scored.

Kneifl secured the season-opening win in four innings allowing four hits while striking out seven batters and walking one. Lutt closed out the final inning allowing one hit.

The Wayne Post 43 Seniors will next host Pierce on Wednesday, June 24 with the Juniors at 5:30/8 p.m.
