Wayne White Didgets, Broncos Suffer Home Losses While Blue Broncos Sweep Road Doubleheader

WAYNE/PIERCE – Youth baseball also took to the diamond Thursday evening during their first date allowed to play under the current Directed Health Measures in Nebraska.

From the Summer Sports Complex, the Wayne White Didgets and Broncos entertained Dodge-Howells Thursday evening.

In the Didgets contest, Howells-Dodge edged Wayne 4-1 in seven innings as the game was tied 1-1 through six innings.

Will Patefield pitched four shutout innings while going 2-for-3 at the plate.

The Wayne White Didgets will next play on Monday, June 22 hosting Pierce at 6/7:30 p.m. from the Summer Sports Complex.

 

Also, the Wayne Blue Didgets had their Thursday night game with the West Point Twins postponed to today (Friday, June 19) at 7 p.m. from the Summer Sports Complex.

 

From the Broncos game, Dodge-Howells started with a run in the first as the Wayne White Broncos answered in the bottom of the second. Dodge-Howells then poured in four runs in the third, three more in the fifth and six in the final inning to win 14-1.

Singles came from Alex Rodriguez, Carter Wiese and Parker Patefield as Mason Karsky also singled and drove in the lone run being Zander Liston who scored.

Five Wayne White Broncos saw time pitching as Rodriguez worked three innings allowing five runs (three earned) off five hits while striking out seven batters and walking one. Brodrick Tiedtke worked an inning and a third allowing three earned runs off five hits while striking out three batters; Drew Reinhardt pitched two-thirds of an inning allowing five earned runs off four hits while striking out one batter and walking two; Lance Stange allowed an earned run while walking three batters and Liston pitched an inning striking out one batter.

The Wayne White Broncos will next join the Wayne Blue Broncos for a pair of road games at O’Neill at 1/3 p.m. on Saturday, June 20.

 

The Wayne Blue Broncos were also in action on the road Thursday evening. Wayne defeated Pierce 18-1 and 18-8.

Brody Munter paced the Blue Broncos in the opening game with a single, a pair of doubles and a triple. Mason Heikes and Jaxson Kneifl both added two doubles and a single.

Kneifl worked the opening three innings allowing one hit while striking out five batters. Jace Jorgensen followed with two innings of two-hit ball while allowing one run.

 

From the second win, Mason Heikes and Dylan Jensen both doubled while Kneifl walked three times.

Munter started on the mound and pitched two innings allowing two runs off one hit and struck out three batters. Chase Nelson worked two innings while striking out four batters.

The Wayne Blue Broncos are scheduled to host Randolph this evening at 6/7:30 p.m.
